Serving the community of Rhondda Cynon Taf, toogoodtowaste collects household items that are too good to be wasted from local residents and offers them at affordable prices in their showrooms, driven by a team of dedicated volunteers.

Having initially built the original website within Squarespace 7.0, Pixelhaze recognised the need for a comprehensive overhaul as toogoodtowaste continued to grow. The organisation had outgrown their initial Squarespace website, they needed a redesign to align with the organisations evolved brand and requirements. We conducted a web design workshop, collaborating closely with the toogoodtowaste team and trustees to understand their vision for the revamped site. The goal was to create a platform that not only reflected the charity's mission but also accommodated the dynamic of inventory.

toogoodtowaste | Solution

The redesigned site adopts a hybrid 'commerce' look to accommodate the unique challenges of managing a constantly changing inventory of reused items.

Recognising the difficulty in maintaining live stock control for such a diverse range of products, we opted for an innovative solution. Instead of a fully bespoke commerce system, we implemented a hybrid approach. Leveraging social media, the team can seamlessly upload new items via Facebook and Instagram, with the content feeding directly into the website. This not only simplifies the process of updating the inventory but also ensures that the website remains an accurate reflection of the available products.

Recognising the invaluable contribution of volunteers, the website redesign places them front and centre, including features that highlight their role within the organisation. This serves to further engage the community and encourage continued support. The result is a visually appealing, functional website that not only aligns with toogoodtowaste's evolved brand but also enhances the overall user experience.
