Beef Up Builth
FOR PIXELHAZE, PUTTING BUILTH ON THE MAP HAS BEEN A PASSION PROJECT IN THE PIPELINE FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS.
The purpose of this project was to help local businesses coming out of lockdown, by showcasing everything that goes on in and around Builth Wells, this ranges from events, business start-ups and products on sale. We also wanted to create a brand for the town, that shows what Builth has to offer, and gives people a reason to come and get involved with Builth Wells.
THE PROJECT
Along with the branding, we have introduced the Beef Up Builth campaign, intended to encourage people to visit the beautiful town of Builth Wells. As people drive through and around Builth Wells, theyโll notice the Beef Up Builth bales which have been strategically placed to advertise the new website and brand. The hashtag acts as a scrapbook of all the activities, events and experiences going on in Builth Wells.
These bales intend to evolve over the coming months. For instance, during show week, we may flip the bale on their side and add a pint glass design over the bales, or during Halloween, the bales could be transformed into massive pumpkins. This encourages people to drive through Builth and anticipate what the bales will look like next.
OUR SOLUTION
The new brand for Builth Wells takes inspiration from the white parks bull, which was the original bull of Builth Wells. Using a minimal, sleek design bringing Builth Wells to the 21st century. The two most iconic parts of Builth Wells are the bull and the bridge so these had to be incorporated these icons into the face of Builth Wells. We opted for a dark chalk colour scheme with a golden overlay to give the town a premium colour palette.
This brand is consistent throughout the Builth Wells website, using a minimal colour palette that doesnโt distract from the main feature of the site which is the content. The website intends to act as a brochure for Builth, allowing people to upload โnews worthyโ content to the website as an online magazine. The community is encouraged to upload news, stories and events which are advertised on the website free of charge.
