QUALITEK ENGINEERING

QUALITEK ENGINEERING ARE SPECIALISTS IN PRECISION ENGINEERING AND FABRICATION BASED IN LLANELLI, WALES.

Founded in 1968, Qualitek Engineering provides quality service to a wide range of industry sectors including construction, automotive, renewables, and utilities, priding themselves on excellent service for their customers.

THE PROJECT

Qualitek Engineering approached PixelHaze to create a custom website that would help drive sales and business when compared to their older site. Although the older site was functional, it wasn't quite to a corporate professional standard and failed to drive sales, which was its main job.

Alongside the website, Qualitek also wanted us to take a look at their existing brand. Although the branding would have done the job a few years ago, over the past few years has become slightly dated.

We also had to consider the fact that creating a new brand has cost implications, so we wanted to take the existing brand and revamp it whilst not straying too far away from the existing logo.

OUR SOLUTION

The entire website and brand were built over the course of a four-day workshop in which we worked three days remotely creating a website alongside the Qualitek team, having regular meetings to discuss the progress that we've made. On the final day of the workshop, Elwyn Davies travelled down to Llanelli where Qualitek is based and went through the site with a fine-tooth comb.

The new site gives a refined and corporate look to the service offerings of Qualitek engineering from CNC/Machining to design support. Using a simple icon led layout, we've listed all four service offerings front and centre on the homepage. These icons are listed throughout the site and are easily accessible from each page. Accompanied with a corporate colour scheme, which we've taken from their brand, the French Navy, white, and then red as an accent colour works very well allowing the photography on the site to be the main selling point.

Whilst we did use some stock imagery for this particular website, we were given a lot of photos taken on-site of the different fabricated products that Qualitek Engineering create. Although these photos showed the products, they weren't up to a high enough standard to use on a professional website, so Ken Rees and Elwyn Davies spent a large portion of the workshop taking these images and refining them to remove all stray objects from the background, tidy up the workshop environment, cut out the different products and paste them onto much clearer backgrounds to help achieve this professional finish.

What might take other agencies months to complete, we've managed to turn around in four days. This is thanks to the years of industry experience and knowledge of both design and Squarespace. Given the timeframe we had for the site, we created a website that is on par with some of the bigger design agencies you'd see in cities, showing you that a custom made website is achievable at a high standard and in a short turnaround.
